It appears the apprehension and fatigue of multiple Covid vaccine injections is wearing on us in our communities. It’s like doing something repeatedly and not seeing an end. So one patron to One Hanson  Pharmacy asked, so when will the next booster be? this question was after she received her 5th covid vaccine or 3rd booster (1st bivalent booster). We have become numb and it is taking a tool. It’s almost like crying wolf. I remember during the peak of the pandemic and Dr. Fauci mentioned something that I have always had at the back o f my mind. He said something to the effect that the virus will determine when this will come to an end. As the virus continues to mutate, we as humans need to find vaccines to combat those mutants. I believe that is the case with the flu vaccine and it could possibly be similar to the covid vaccine. A yearly routine vaccination  instead of thinking when will the next booster be. Or more optimistically not having any new variant or weaker one that the current vaccine will suffice. So why should I get the new covid booster vaccine? Let me try and convince you then! According to the CDC, the  updated COVID-19 booster provides protection against the original strain of the virus that causes COVID-19, as well as the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants. These newer subvariants are more contagious and able to evade protection that your body might have against earlier subvariants. CDC recommends that everyone ages 12 years and older in the United States receive an updated COVID-19 booster. Like the original boosters, the updated doses help restore protection that might have gone down since your last dose. Everyone who is eligible―including those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised―is recommended to receive one dose of the updated bivalent booster at least two months after their last dose (either the final dose of the primary series or the last booster shot).
